Cabled Cowl

When: February 6th and 20th from 1-3 PM
Cost: $30 plus materials

Materials: About 200 yards of Holiday Wooly Ewe worsted weight yarn or something comparable, US #6 and #7 circular needles

Jill designed this ingenious cowl to make the most of one skein of a beautiful hand dyed yarn. The finished cowl has only 36 cast on stitches and NO bound off stitches! How is this done? It begins with a provisional cast on. Both the top and the bottom borders are knitted ONTO the piece as you work, neatly sealing in the stitches and achieving a lovely, flexible edge. The pattern is free from Ravelry and you must download it for the class.

Double Knitting

doubleknit1 doubleknit2

When: February 7th from 1 to 3 PM.
Cost: $30 plus materials

Materials: 2 skeins of Brown Sheep Naturespun Worsted, size 7 needles, and the pattern from Ravelry. A magnet board or chart keeper would be helpful.

Elizabeth will teach you how to knit a truly reversible Pot Holder. The pattern we chose is an adorable sheep, and the pattern includes matching coasters and even a Tea Cozy. Because you knit two layers together, the results are squishy and perfect!

Even though it is a Sunday, we will be open for this special class.

Snapdragon Flip Tops

When: Feb 13th from 11-12 and Feb 27 from 11-1
Cost: $30 plus materials

Materials: 1 skein Holiday Wooly Ewe Worsted yarn or similar yarn, Size 6 needles (your choice of double points, a 12″ circ and another circ, or a 32″ for Magic Loop), a cable needle, a tapestry needle and the pattern from Ravelry

This is a WOW project. The designer describes it this way: “Fun and highly practical mittens with flip-tops that will keep your fingers toasty warm but allow them to make a quick escape when you need to unlock the door or button your coat. The cable and petal pattern on the cuffs grows into an elegant motif on the back of the hand that invisibly incorporates the necessary shaping for the thumb.” You will learn a lot in this class too: chart reading, cabling, icord, working a thumb and finishing. A lot of knitting techniques packed into a small project! Join Karen for this fun project!
